Yi is also actively involved in peer teaching and honor societies. She started her tutoring jobs since freshman year and has three years of experience at this point. She is currently participating in the Texas A&M Engineering Honor Program and Omega Epsilon Honor Society. Her goal is becoming an ocean engineering professor after completing a doctoral degree.
2019/2020 MTS Houston Section Glen Lochte Scholarship
Loicka Baille – Loicka just finished her fourth year at Texas A&M as an Ocean Engineering major and Wildlife and Fishery minor. She lived most of her life in France, then moved to Lebanon, before coming to the US for college. Early on in her life, she was introduced to scuba diving and quickly realized the endless power of water. Her interests are mainly focused on harvesting wave power, ocean clean-up, and ocean exploration. In May, she came back from a 6-weeks-long Oceanographic Cruise in Antarctica where she collected water samples to study climate change and ocean acidification. This summer, she is interning at AECOM as a Coastal Engineer, in their Katy office. After finishing her Bachelor of Science in May 2020, she is considering furthering her education by doing either a master or PhD where she could combine the fields of Ocean Engineering, Oceanography and Marine Biology.
2019/2020 MTS Houston Dr. John C. Freeman Scholarship
Gus Braendle – Howdy, my name is Gus and I am entering my junior year at Texas A&M University, studying Ocean Engineering. In my free time I enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with friends and family. This summer I have had the opportunity to intern at Kiewit Offshore Services, and it has been great to gain some industry experience to compliment what I have learned in the classroom. Working at Kiewit this summer has only increased my excitement to learn, so that I may be a valuable engineer when I graduate. I’m very appreciative of the support MTS provides their student members and look forward to continuing my involvement in the Texas A&M chapter.
